The Horse as a Subject in Your Drawing and Painting

Course Goals and Objectives:

To learn how anatomy and proportion play a huge part in your ability to draw lifelike horses. I will be coaching you to draw what you see, and have an enjoyable time while learning. Suitable for all levels of artists. Accepting a minimum of 8, and maximum of 15 students. Bring a sack lunch, 30 minute lunch break.

Schedule:

10 - 10:15           Introduction and overview
10:15 - 11:45      The first hour and a half will focus on the importance of proportion and the study of anatomy.
11:45 - 12:15      Sack lunch break
12:15 - 2:00        Putting it all together with some timed drawings, and completing a more finished drawing using value and detail.
2:00 - 2:45          Experiments with a variety of paper, and styles of drawing. Instructor will provide a selection of papers for experimentation.
2:45 - 3:00          Questions and conclusion.

  • 11 X 14 “ Strathmore 400 Series Drawing Pad
  • Assorted drawing pencils HB, 2B, 8B
  • Kneaded Gum Eraser
  • White Eraser (Factis or a like brand)
  • Blending Stumps (various sizes)
  • Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils Set of 24 or larger
  • Set of 4 Conte Crayons
  • Soft Vine Charcoal
  • White Charcoal
