This hands-on experience will introduce you to the fundamentals of relief printmaking\, allowing you to create and print small editions of your own artwork using provided tools and materials. \nWhat to Expect:\n\nLearn the basics of relief printmaking\nCreate and print small editions of your own artwork\nNo prior experience needed – just bring your creativity!\nConnect with fellow art enthusiasts in a welcoming environment\n\nAll participants will have the opportunity to explore the world of printmaking with a talented instructor and take home their own handcrafted prints! \nLocal Artist – Mark Burkett\n \nMark Burkett is a painter and printer who studied printmaking at Indiana State University where he received his fine arts degree. SUMMARY:2025 Mabel B. Annis Student Art Competition
DESCRIPTION:Eligibility\nOpen to 7th-12th grade students in the following counties: Brown\, Bartholomew\, Greene\, Jackson\, Johnson\, Monroe and Morgan. Homeschool students under the guidance of a licensed art teacher \nEntry Procedure\nTeachers must email brncagal@gmail.com with their intent to participate by January 25\, 2025. Artwork is selected by holding a school competition before February 2025 – OR – the art teacher selects the artwork at his/her discretion. If a competition is held\, Middle School and High School must be judged separately. Select the top five pieces of artwork in each of the six categories for both Middle school and High school. These winners go on to compete for prizes in the Mabel B. Annis Student Art Competition. \nGuidelines for Artwork\nArtwork can be created in six categories only: Painting\, Drawing\, 3-D\, Photography\, Print and Video. All artworks must be completely original. Artwork may not be a projected copy of an image; computer generated or have been produced or modified by another individual besides the student.  \nWork completed before August 1\, 2024\, is not eligible. Work cannot be larger than 24 x 30 (unframed) and must be dry\, matted\, framed (if applicable) and ready to hang. Pastels must be placed under protective material. The photographs must be mounted and ready to hang. Videos must be 1:00 minimum\, 2:00 maximum and presented on a thumb drive.  \nAll work must be properly tagged and labeled (front & back) with the provided entry form upon delivery to the Gallery. Student artists may price their work. The Gallery has the right to photograph or film the artists and their work. \nSubmit\n\nRSVP intent to participate by January 25\, 2025 to (brncagal@gmail.com)\nProvide completed Entry Form upon delivery of artwork.\n\nDelivery / Pickup of Work\nTagged artwork (front & back) must be delivered to the Gallery between February 24 & 25\, 2025 from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM and must be accompanied with the completed “Entry Identification” form. Work must be picked up April 14 & 15\, 2025 from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM. \nAwards\nOn March 4\, 2025\, the final round of judging will take place at the Gallery by IHA artist/Judge Jeff Klinker. Ribbons and cash prizes will be awarded for each of the Middle School and High School competitions. Over $6500 cash was awarded to participants last year. A $250.00 IHA “Teacher of the Year” award will be given in both the Junior High and Senior High Divisions. \nAll teachers will receive a stipend for their participation. \nSchedule\n\nRSVP due January 25\, 2025\nSelect artwork via school competition or teacher’s discretion by February 2025.\nDelivery of artwork to Gallery February 24 or 25\, 2025. DESCRIPTION:Cut off for enrollment: August 2 \nInstructor: James Hubbard \nParticipants will create unique monotype & relief prints using a variety of techniques. Prints will be created using handheld printing tools\, linoleum\, diverse papers and water based inks\, water miscible oil inks and acrylic paint. In addition\, participants will create a group artwork. Emphasis will be on individual and group creative experimentation & discovery. Connections between painting and printmaking will be made. While this workshop is geared toward print beginners\, those with some experience are also welcome to enroll. Cost is $275. \nJames is an experienced print artist who has taught printmaking and exhibited his award-winning art throughout Central Indiana since 2009.
