The leaves are starting to show a bit of color as summer is heading into fall. The historic Brown County Art Gallery has an ever-changing calendar of events making the need to visit more often!

Up next is the Indiana Artist Club member show. This organization was founded in 1917 in Indianapolis by a group of professional artists, including Brown County’s own Carl Graf and T.C. Steele. Its purpose is to provide juried exhibitions featuring the work of its professional members and the organization continues its mission to this day. Next stop is the Brown County Art Gallery. Visitors will have a chance to see and buy art by artists who follow the early tradition of the early members.

Indiana Artists Club Member Exhibition

Two major fall events are on the horizon. Opening Sept. 6, a special exhibit and sale of art by John Mellencamp. This personally curated sale corresponds to the opening of a major exhibition of his art at the Eskenazi Museum of Art at Indiana University on September 5. Visit the Museum show and our exhibit at the Gallery as we celebrate this special Hoosier Legend.

Our Art Association artists have been hard at work getting ready for their fall show. We are also pleased to announce a series of solo exhibitions by individual artist members. First up is Association Member Kathy Blankenheim who shows the abstract side of her work.

In October, Collector’s Showcase 2024 will be staging a dazzling collection of historic art that celebrates the 100th anniversary of the Hoosier Salon. This first of a kind collaboration recognizes the early ties between the early Brown County artists and the Hoosier Salon women who brought their work to the Chicago market.

The opening reception is October 5. Make your reservations now.
